BlockBeats News, December 20th, the Brooklyn Court filed a lawsuit against Coinbase customer support scam suspect Ronald Spektor, involving approximately $16 million. The suspect is accused of impersonating Coinbase customer support through phishing and social engineering techniques to steal nearly $16 million from around 100 Coinbase users.
Currently facing 31 charges, including first-degree grand larceny, first-degree money laundering, conspiracy to commit fraud, and other related charges. During the investigation, the police seized approximately $105,000 in cash and cryptocurrency worth $400,000 from the defendant, and the District Attorney's Office is tracing more suspected stolen cryptocurrency assets.
